Here for the first time is a compilation in one volume of Blavatsky's perspective, both controversial and of stimulating value, for all interested in the Buddhist and Theosophic world view.     D.T. Suzuki spoke of Helena Blavatsky as "one who had truly attained," and praised her Voice of the Silence as being "true Mahayana Buddhism." The Lama Kazi Dawa Samdup, who translated the Tibetan Book of the Dead with Dr. W.Y. Evans-Wentz, said Blavatsky's writings showed "...intimate acquaintance with the higher lamaistic teachings..." She and Col. Olcott, then President of the Theosophical Society, formally took Buddhist vows in Sri Lanka in 1880 much to the shock of Christian missionaries and colonial powers. This bold action by her and Olcott's extensive networking initiated a cultural revival there revitalizing Buddhist values, thought and practice.      During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Blavatsky influenced prominent Buddists of all kinds: from late nineteenth century Singhalese Buddhists who were here close assiates, including Dharmapala and others, to the Sixth Panchen Lama who in 1925 wrote an introductory preface to the Peking edition of her Voice of the Silence, and more recently Christmas Humphreys, Evans-Wentz, Edward Conze, etc. Throughout the century, Blavatsky's Theosophic exposition of Buddhist thought has gained influence and respect.

During the last months of Helena Blavatsky's life, a small group of personal students gathered to form an "Inner Group" which met with her to ask questions and receive teaching on various aspects of Theosophy, practical and metaphysical alike. These meetings covered a wide range of subjects from states of consciousness, correspondences of planets, color, and sound to metaphysical correspondences of Kosmic principles and future evolution of humanity. The meetings continued until her death in may, 1891. Given today's understanding of the dynamics of the "unconscious" from Jungian thought, as well as the unified matter/energy theories of modern physics, it can be seen the Blavatsky's comments both seeded and anticipated this later inner opening in the Western psyche. Her profound insight expanded this new movement of consciousness into the 21st century and will still continue to provide ideas of archetypal depth.

This is the 'memory of the Heart': and the capacity to impress it on the 'opening of the third Eye'. In deep sleep, the Third Eye opens but it does not remain open. Still, some impressions from the Spiritual Consciousness do reach the Brain more or less ... and there are some of these which are received through the Brain, which do not belong to our previous personal experience. This work reveals the enormous knowledge Helena Blavatsky, founder of the modern Theosophical Movement, displays about Christianity and its eastern and "pagan" origins, as well as intrinsic, though often hidden, esoteric meaning. These scriptures that have so essentially influenced western culture and spiritual development, and that have been perhaps most misinterpreted and misunderstood, are in this work revealed to have depth of meaning that if accepted by "Christians" of today would change the whole fabric and form of Christianity. The compiler-annotator, H.J. Spierenburg, a Hebrew and Greek, as well as Theosophical scholar, has referred to the Biblical texts, including the original Greek and parallel passages of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and has arranged Blavatsky's commentary for ease of study. The work is in ten segments: Gospels, Acts, Epistles, and Revelation, with the Gospels being the largest. There is a five-page bibliography, N.T. Index, O.T. Index, Rabbinical Index, Index of works by Blavatsky as they occur, and a General index of 115 pages which is a concordnce based on word and expression. These many insights and comments point revealingly to Blavatsky's key statement: 
     "Every act of the Jesus of the New Testament, every work attributed to him, every event related to him during the three years of the mission he is said to have accomplished, rest on the program of the Cycle of Initiation, a cycle founded on the precession of the Equinoxes and the Signs of the Zodiac."
